Strohmeyer helped make the Bergen Boys Basketball Jamboree one of the top high school sports tournaments in the state.
Strohmeyer, who lived in River Vale, was the Jamboree chairman for more than 30 years and oversaw the expansion of the tournament to the point where it has become the signature sporting event in Bergen County. He also officiated high school football, baseball and basketball games since the early 1960s.
Strohmeyer excelled in basketball and baseball at St. Cecilia High School in Englewood and Fairleigh Dickinson University. He finished his graduate studies at Montclair State University.
He went on to be a mathematics teacher for four decades at Tenafly and Bergenfield high schools, where he also coached basketball and soccer
