Frances Cecilia Scaffa (nee Viapiano) age 94, of Emerson passed away on Wednesday July 18, 2018. Beloved wife of Francis Scaffa for 67 years. Devoted mother of John Scaffa, and Christine Purcell and her husband Matt. Loving grandmother (Grammy) of Genna Scaffa, Daniel and Ryan Purcell. Predeceased by her grandson David Scaffa. Frances was born to Frances and Dominick Viapiano in Westwood NJ. She was predeceased by her brothers, Alfred, Nicholas and Paul. “Grammy”, as she was affectionately known, was extremely generous and happiest spending countless hours babysitting each grandchild as they grew up. She will be deeply missed by all. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday July 21, 2018 at 9:30am at Church of the Assumption, Emerson NJ. Interment will follow at George Washington Memorial Park Cemetery, Paramus NJ. Frances had many favorite charities. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis TN 38105 or a favorite charity of your choice.
