Frank lived a full and meaningful life defined by devotion to family, service to others, and a genuine joy for living.
He grew up in Palisades Park, New Jersey, and graduated from Leonia High School. He went on to earn his bachelor's degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University and later received his master’s degree from Baruch College. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy, carrying that sense of duty, discipline, and integrity into every chapter of his life.
Shortly after his service, Frank married Roberta Venusti, and together they shared three daughters: Maria Cancro Carman (Neal), Andrea Cancro, and Jennifer Cancro Caputo (Paul). Frank moved his family to Mahwah, New Jersey, where he lovingly raised his children. He was a devoted and hands-on father - coaching softball for his girls, creating a warm and welcoming home, and always opening his door to family and friends.
His family grew to include Craig Pelletier, Carissa Pelletier Laufman (Andrew), and Christian Pelletier (Nicole), along with nine cherished grandchildren—Matthew (Bridget), Christian, Isabella, Olivia, Jada, Maxwell, Alyza, Violet, and Zachery—and his beloved great-grandson, Gordon.
Frank built an impressive professional career, beginning as a top salesperson for American Can Company before founding his own successful software company, Humanic Design Corporation, where he served as CEO and Owner. His innovative spirit and work ethic were matched only by his ability to connect with people.
It was his love of skiing that led him to meet Jasmin Pelletier on a trip to Colorado—a moment that would shape the next 30 years of his life. Together, they shared a beautiful partnership filled with adventure, laughter, and love. They traveled the world, enjoyed skiing and tennis, cooked and entertained, and ultimately made their home in Vero Beach, Florida.
Frank measured his life not by his many accomplishments but by his relationships. He was the grandfather - aka “Poppi”- who delighted in “tickle time,” the friend who enjoyed a cold beer on the tennis porch with the guys after a competitive match, and the neighbor whose passion for his yard made it the envy of all—despite his ongoing battle with the local rabbits. His warmth and enthusiasm left a lasting impression on everyone he met.
A devoted member of his community, Frank served as the proud and beloved Association President of The Cottages for the past 14 years, a role he embraced with dedication and heart.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Theodora and Frances Cancro; his wife, Roberta Venusti Cancro; his sister, Marilyn Cancro McKay; and his two beloved Golden Retrievers, Mandy and Samantha. Frank’s kindness, generosity, and sense of humor touched countless lives. He was a bright light—steadfast, loving, and deeply loved in return.
Though he will be profoundly missed, his spirit will live on in the hearts of his family, his friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Celebration of Life will be held on SATURDAY, July 18, 2026 from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM at Becker Funeral Home, 219 Kinderkamack Road, Westwood, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Frank’s memory.
