Fred Richard Holzel

Fred R., 79,of Washington Township passed away on August 5, 2014. Fred was born in Englewood and raised in Demarest, NJ. He was the son of Fred and Elise Holzel. From the time he was a young boy, he always loved airplanes, so it was only natural that upon his graduation from Tenafly High School he enlisted in the United States Air Force and proudly served his country. Before retiring, Fred was the Chief Maintenance Director of the flight department for MetroMedia. Fred enjoyed fishing, vacationing on Long Beach Island, listening to music from the big band era, and enjoying time with friends and family on his boat. Beloved husband of the late Elizabeth "Bette" (nee Kaim). Devoted father of Carolyn Blank and her husband Henry, Fred Holzel and his wife Dee, Linda Garino and her husband Edwin, and James Holzel and his wife Jacklyn. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Mary and Anne Blank, Rebecca Holzel, Gregory Kobierowski, Andrew, Edward, William, Jack and Melissa Holzel. Fred will be sadly missed by his family, friends and his two cats, Timmy and Sunshine. The family will receive their relatives and friends at Becker Funeral Home, 219 Kinderkamack Road, Westwood, NJ on Friday, August 8 from 6-9PM. The Funeral Service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, August 9 at 11AM. Interment will follow at George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus, NJ.
