George M. Peters

PETERS, George M., 90, of Emerson, NJ, passed away on Saturday, February 8, 2014. He was born in Brooklyn, NY. Beloved husband of 68 years to Frances Peters (nee Solazzo). Devoted father of Tonia Romano and the late Michael Peters. Loving grandfather of Joseph and Anthony Romano. Cherished great grandfather of Evan, Anna and Jennifer. He is also survived by his beloved family. George was a retired audio engineer for NBC for 30 years. He worked on the NBC Nightly newscast and Saturday Night Live. George was a member of the NJ Meteorological Society and a parishioner of R.C. Church of the Assumption, Emerson, NJ. He was also an accomplished Olympic swimmer during World War II. The family will receive their friends at Becker Funeral Home, 219 Kinderkamack Road, Westwood, NJ on Tuesday, 5-8PM. The Funeral Mass celebrating George’s life and faith will be at R.C. Church of the Assumption, Emerson, NJ on Wednesday at 10AM. Interment will follow at George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus, NJ. Memorial gifts may be made in George’s name to the Ramapo Animal Shelter.
