Georgeann Wheeler

WHEELER, Georgeann, 83, of Hillsdale, N.J., passed away on Thursday, March 19th, 2026. Georgeann is survived by her sister Bonnie Magee and her husband John, brother Jim Paton and his wife Debbie, daughters Stacie Gallo and her husband Nick, Joy Shader and Candi Roman and her husband Matthew; her stepsons Thomas “TJ” Wheeler, Dennis Wheeler and Christopher Wheeler and his wife Jennifer; her grandchildren Madison Gallo, Peyton Gallo, Benjamin Roman, Tyler Wheeler, Catherine Wheeler and Collin Wheeler, and her niece Elaine Hargrove and her husband Geoff. Her husband Robert predeceases her.

Georgeann grew up in River Edge and attended River Dell High School before attending William Paterson College, graduating with a degree in education. She taught kindergarten for some time and stayed home once she had children, working as a crossing guard for many years. She worked for a doctor’s office as an Administrative Assistant until her retirement. She also worked at night for the A&P Food Stores, as well as making specialty cakes for people.

Georgeann loved to bowl and participated in bowling leagues at Montvale Lanes. She was a huge advocate for the Hillsdale Softball Program, coaching and running the program for years. Georgeann was an active member of the Holy Trinity Church in Hillsdale. She enjoyed playing cards with her family, baking and gardening. In the summer months, she would be found playing cards at Stonybrook with her friends. Georgeann looked forward to her activities with the 50’s Plus Club of Hillsdale. She taught her children and grandchildren how to bake. Georgeann was a lover of Christmas trips with her family, and the Hallmark channel. She loved the happy endings.

The family will receive guests at Becker Funeral Home, 219 Kinderkamack Road, Westwood, NJ on Friday, March 27th, from 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm with a celebration of life and faith to commence at 7:00 pm and private cremation to follow.
