

Gerald Francis "Jerry" Olsen, 83 of Ridgefield Park, NJ, formerly of Park Ridge, passed away peacefully at Villa Marie Clare on April 6, 2015, surrounded by his loving family. Jerry was proud of his Hoboken roots. He was the President of his Class of 1950 at AJ Demarest High School, where he met and married his high school sweetheart, Doris Fischkelta. After they married, he proudly served in the US Army and rose to the rank of Corporal at Fort Knox, KY. He graduated from Farleigh Dickinson in 1963, and then became a regional manager for AMF, and owner of Garden Palace Bowl in Clifton, N.J. While living in Park Ridge, he was an active leader in the OLM prayer group. For the last 32 years, until his retirement at age 81, Jerry was a Financial Consultant at Summit Financial in Parsippany, N.J. Jerry will long be remembered for his loving and caring heart, his strength, love for fishing, his pancakes, Easter bread and of course, a never ending collection of jokes. Survived by his beloved wife Doris of 62 years, loving father to Maureen (Bob) Eide, Jane Macina, and Kris (Bob) Prisco. He will be missed by his grandchildren Michelle (Anthony) Putnick, Lauren (Rich) Ortiz, Alex Prisco, Kate Macina, Grace Prisco, Matt Eide and Joe Prisco and great-grandfather to Hazel Marie Ortiz. Sister-in-laws Anna Mulligan and Gloria Callahan and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his brothers Norman, Charles, Roy and Mickey Olsen and Sister Cora Best. He is predeceased by his sister-in-laws Mary (Sam) Monaco, Jeannie (Nunzi) Barone and brother-in-law Ralph Fischkelta. Visitation at the Becker Funeral Home, 219 Kinderkamack Road, Westwood on Thursday 2-4 & 7-9 pm. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Francis of Assisi, 114 Mt. Vernon St., Ridgefield Park on Friday at 9:30 am. Interment George Washington Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations to be made to Villa Marie Claire Hospice in Saddle River, NJ or the Ridgefield Park Volunteer Ambulance Corps.
