

Gerald J. Sabbers “Jerry”, 85, passed away peacefully on April 30, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was an adoring husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, and a longtime resident of Township of Washington, NJ.
Jerry is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Angela (nee Loverro) Sabbers; his son Joseph Sabbers and his wife Alexandra; his daughter Gina Tabbachino and her husband Dominick; his cherished grandchildren Joseph, Giavanna, Hunter, and Geri; and his sister Cecelia Zakhar and nephew Michael.
Jerry was born on April 20, 1940 and was raised in Jersey City, NJ. He attended St. Michael’s High School in Union City, NJ, served in the U.S. Army, and attended Seton Hall University. After twenty years of sales and marketing experience, Jerry founded Sabbers & Associates Inc. in 1981 to continue his remarkable career in the foodservice industry. He built his family brokerage business from the ground up, and will be remembered as an innovative trailblazer and respected leader in the foodservice industry. Jerry’s bright personality, exceptional drive, and competitive spirit left a lasting impact on those who worked alongside him.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Jerry found great joy in spending time with family, especially during trips to Long Beach Island, NJ, New York City, and Bonita Springs, FL. He enjoyed his time relaxing on the beach, playing golf, cheering for the New York Yankees and Giants, and supporting his grandchildren’s academic, athletic, and professional accomplishments. He was a devout Catholic who attended daily Mass and actively supported his parishes. Jerry dedicated himself to creating a beautiful life for his family and living life to the fullest.
Visitation will be held on Monday, May 5, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Becker Funeral Home at 219 Kinderkamack Rd., Westwood, NJ 07675. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 6, at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Good Counsel at 668 Ridgewood Rd., Township of Washington, NJ 07676. Entombment will follow at Garden of Memories at 300 Soldier Hill Rd., Township of Washington, NJ 07676.
