Irma Mary Cummings

Irma Mary Cummings, 92 of Mahwah, NJ passed away peacefully on June 4, 2026.

She is survived by her sons John Peter, James Patrick and Jeffrey Phillip. Her daughter-in-laws Debbie and Diane. Her grandchildren Joey, Jenna, Crista, and Diana. She was preceded in death by her husband Jack and her son Joseph Paul.

Irma was born in Cortina, Italy. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in education from Fordham University and received her master’s degree from Dickinson. She taught Spanish and ESL for 27 years at Bergenfield HS. She was an advocate for children with special needs after having a child of her own with special needs.

She loved painting and her native country in the Dolomites in Northern Italy.

Visitation will be held at Becker Funeral Home, 219 Kinderkamack Road, Westwood, NJ 07675, on June 7, 2026, from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm.

A Funeral Mass will take place at Our Lady of Mercy Roman Catholic Church, 2 Fremont Ave, Park Ridge, NJ 07656, on June 8, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.

A Committal Service will follow at St Nicholas Cemetery, 2 Terrace Ave, Lodi, NJ 07644, on June 8, 2026, from 11:45 am to 12:15 pm.
