Café, Isabella “Izzy/Bella/Baba”, age 17, passed away on the evening of October 11th, 2018 in her hometown of Emerson, NJ. Isabella was truly the epitome of extraordinary. She was always that person who helped you in any and every class and always made jokes to make sure everyone around her was happy. Last year, almost every morning, izzy would come into Mr. Hedges’s room and pick a random topic to draw about. Then from there, she would incorporate little drawings of our friends to “jazz” it up. It was something i loved and i looked forward to every morning. I still remember the last thing she did for me, help me with my english homework during lunch. Because that’s who izzy was, always the one to jump at the chance to help someone who needed it. May Isabella rest in peace.

I knew when I first met Izzy my junior, her freshman, year on the volleyball court that she was going to steal my heart. Her laugh was contagious and she gave me the confidence I never knew I had both on and off of the court. I loved hearing her call me the "Team Mom" along with Olivia, Lex, and so many others. I remember the fire in her eyes and passion in her heart during volleyball, and in everything she did. Whenever I would see her walking in the hallway with every book in her locker, a smile would form across my face. I could be having the worst day and just seeing that little face smiling as she held her body weight in textbooks and notebooks, could make it into the best day. She was one of my volleyball kids, and I am so happy that I was able to meet Izzy and be graced with her love, care, beautiful singing voice, intelligence, passion, and a smile that could light up any room even on the darkest of days. I will forever call Izzy my ray of sunshine, and she will always hold a place in my heart. Sending love to the Cafe family and everyone touched by the love of Isabella Cafe.

Izzy was a smart, kind, dependable, beautiful, and joyful girl. In every setting I saw her in, she worked incredibly hard to do the best job possible. I first truly got to know her from her being my understudy for the role of ‘Cinderella’ from Into The Woods her freshman year (even though she was already very involved in high school theatre prior to even being in high school!). Izzy went above and beyond to help her fellow actors improve, exceeded in her own role as well, and assisted the orchestra in a way that held the show together. Then seeing her work so hard on the JV volleyball team which she then eventually moved up to Varsity her sophomore year was amazing to see. She gave her all at every practice, always had a positive attitude, and continued to make everyone smile and laugh with her many expressions (ones such as “oh fiddlesticks!” and more). Returning back to theatre, her talents of singing and acting shined through with her lead role as ‘Judy’ in 9 to 5. As a double-cast, sharing the role with her was such a joy. From struggling with practicing an incredibly hard song together, to laughing nonstop when staging and learning the choreography for the show, being with her throughout the play season was a great experience. Ultimately no amount of adjectives and descriptions can really sum up what an impact Izzy had on me, and many other at EHS. She will always remain in our hearts and memories forever and I send lots of love to her family. Rest In Peace.

Beautiful Isabella attended the Summer Theatre Institute with all three of my children for as long as we can remember.

Isabella was always smiling and eager to help anyone who needed it. She lit up the stage and she lit up offstage. That smile could brighten anyone’s day. I remember seeing her rehearse during the school year when my kids and were waiting for Mr. Ullman. Her face brightened when she saw us and she rushed over to say “Hi” the minute she was done rehearsing her beautiful song. So. Much. Talent.

My son Ryan was telling us today how Isabella and Gus, who are both older than he, would include him in the things they were talking about and they made him feel like and assistant counselor, which is a seriously big deal to him. Isabella, although older, made him feel so important.

Isabella was loved and adored and we just want to wrap Alex and her parents up in love and strength and prayer and walk beside them as they navigate all of this.

Beautiful Isabella, rest now and know that you will always be cherished. We love you.
