James Blasi

BLASI, James, of River Vale, NJ, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, November 17, 2014, surrounded by his family. Prior to moving to River Vale, NJ, Jim lived in Bergenfield, NJ for 44 years. Proudly raised in Brooklyn, NY, Jim spent his entire working life, 52 years, working for ADT Security Systems, retiring in 1996. A Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict, he was a devoted lifelong Yankee fan and pursued autographs purely for the love the chase. He will be missed by his best friend and wife of 54 years, Angela (nee: Lia), his son James Blasi and partner Michael Tozzoli of Westwood, NJ daughter Julie Somma and husband Joseph of Bloomfield, NJ and his two granddaughters Laura and Emma, his sister Marylou Lia of California and many nieces and nephews of whom he was very proud. The family will receive their relatives and friends at Becker Funeral Home, 219 Kinderkamack Road, Westwood, NJ on Thursday, November 20 from 2-4 and 7-9PM. The Funeral Mass celebrating Jim’s life and faith will be held at St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church, Bergenfield, NJ on Friday, November 21 at 11AM. Cremation will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made in Jim’s name to Valley Hospice and/or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
