Moloney, Jim, 93, of Mahwah, NJ, passed away on Saturday, October 13, 2018. A beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend, he will be greatly missed. Born in Port Chester, NY, Jim lived in the Township of Washington, Bergen County, NJ for almost 60 years with his late wife, Peggy. He was an active member of Our Lady of Good Counsel R.C. Church, since its first beginnings to the present. Jim was predeceased by his parents, James and Nellie Moloney, his brother, Bernie, and his wife, Peggy, whom he called his “one and only.” He is survived by his daughters, Peggy Davis, Patty Shelley, Eileen Brown, his son, Larry Moloney, 5 granddaughters, 2 grandsons, 1 great-grandson, 2 great-granddaughters and many cousins. He loved them all! A proud patriot, Jim served our country in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1942-1945. He earned the Purple Heart in the European theater of operations. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Sergeant in 1945. Jim was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Military Order of the Purple Heart. Jim graduated from Pace University. He worked for General Foam Corporation. He was an active member of the Washington Township Seniors Association, the Township Of Washington Knights of Columbus and the Irish American Association. Jim loved reading and listening to Irish music. He enjoyed many hobbies, including model airplanes, photography, playing the bagpipes, golf and he was a computer enthusiast; but most of all, he loved being with his family. The family will receive guests at Becker Funeral Home, 219 Kinderkamack Rd., Westwood, NJ on Tuesday, October 16th from 2-4 and 7-9PM. A Mass celebrating Jim’s life and faith will be held at Our Lady Of Good Counsel R.C. Church on Wednesday, October 17th at 10AM with interment at Ascension Cemetery in Airmont, NY to follow.
