

James Harshey of Westwood, NJ, passed away peacefully on April 4, 2015 at the age of 92. Born in Washington, D.C. and a resident of Westwood for the past 52 years. James was an Army veteran serving before and during World War II. He was a parishioner and usher at the 10:30 Mass at St. Andrew’s R.C. Church in Westwood for many years. Member and past president of Senior Fellowship Club of Westwood. Bergen County Outstanding Volunteer of the Year in 1996. Member of the St. Thomas More Knights of Columbus of Westwood.
Devoted father of Eileen and her husband Carl Rix of Westwood and Cynthia and her husband James Verbrugge of Midland Park. Loving grandfather of his grandsons, Michael Verbrugge of Eastchester, NY and John Verbrugge of Chalfont, PA
Jim is also survived by his brother Gerald and his wife Margaret Scanlon and his sister-in-law, Vera Scanlon; and his beloved nieces and nephews Roberta, Glenn, Brian, Karen, Kevin, Debbie and Julie; numerous great nieces and nephews especially Sophia. He is predeceased by his beloved wife of 60 years, Stella Jaworski Scanlon, brothers Robert and John and sister-in-law Patricia.
Friends may call at Becker Funeral Home, 219 Kinderkamack Road, Westwood, NJ on Tuesday, April 7 from 4 to 8PM. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Andrew’s R.C. Church, Westwood, NJ on Wednesday, April 8 at 10:30AM with burial at George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus, NJ. Memorial donations to St. Andrew’s R.C. Church, 120 Washington Avenue, Westwood, NJ 07675 would be appreciated.
