Jane Edwards

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Mary Jane Edwards, our cherished mother and grandmother. Jane was born on April 28, 1938, in Brooklyn, New York to parents Bridget and Joseph Griffin. She grew up in Brooklyn and was an administrative assistant at several companies there before she got married and moved to Long Island. She was a Court Assistant in the Nassau County Courts before she retired and moved to Westwood NJ in 2002.

Jane was a beacon of love and support, always there for her family. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, strength, and selflessness. She always put her family’s needs before her own. She was and will continue to be a role model for her children and grandchildren to follow.

Jane was the devoted wife of the late Robert Edwards. She will be deeply missed by her beloved son Robert Truitt; her daughters Jean Torres (and her husband Richard) and Joanne Pesce (and her husband Christopher); and her treasured grandchildren, Kara, Nicole, Natalie, Christina and Joshua. She is also survived by her brother Edwin. She was predeceased by her brothers James and Bernard and her sister Irene. Though we will miss her beyond measure, we are grateful that she is at peace and free from any discomfort and pain.

A mass of Christian burial for Mary Jane will be held Tuesday, July 8, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM at Church of the Assumption, 29 Jefferson Ave, Emerson, NJ 07630. Following the mass of Christian burial will be a niche entombment from 11:45 AM to 12:00 PM at Maryrest Cemetery & Mausoleum, 770 Darlington Ave, Mahwah, NJ 07430.
