Joseph R. Mara

Joseph R. Mara, 66, of Westwood, NJ, formerly of Emerson, NJ, suddenly passed away surrounded by loving family on Sunday November 28, 2021. Joseph is survived by his loving wife Gail (née Herzich), his children, Kimberly, Joseph D. and his wife Amy, three grandchildren, Tyler, Olivia, and Joseph E., brother Bruce Mara and his wife Patty, brother-in-law Frank Herzich and wife Pat, sister-in-law Maureen Montany and husband Bob, sister-in-law Cathy Wimmer and her husband Don. Loving Uncle of many nieces and nephews. He was a Heat & Frost Insulator and a member of Local #32 for (41) years. Proud member of the Emerson Volunteer Fire Department for 49 years. He served as Chief of Department in years 1996 & 1997. Ex-Fire Official and Fire Inspector for the Borough of Emerson. He will be greatly miss by all.

In celebration of his life, the family will receive their relatives and friends at Becker Funeral Home, 219 Kinderkamack Road, Westwood, NJ on Friday, December 3rd from 2-4 and 7-9PM with a Fire Department Service at 7:30PM. The Funeral Mass celebrating both his life and faith will be held at Church of the Assumption, Emerson, NJ on Saturday, December 4th at 9:30AM. Interment will follow at Westwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Emerson Volunteer Fire Department
