

Joseph P. Marren, 85, of Emerson, NJ, on Friday, December 4, 2009. Born in The Bronx to his parents Joseph and Catherine Marren. Before retiring, Joseph was an elementary school teacher for the Closter Board of Education, having taught at the Village Middle School. He was a Navy Veteran of World War II and was the last sole survivor of his company, Comm. 42 and a parishioner of Church of the Assumption, Emerson, NJ. Beloved husband of Lorraine Marren. Devoted father of Richard Marren and his wife Denise and Thomas Marren and his wife Elizabeth. Step-father of Deborah Di Persia, Thomas Hills and Vicki Elliott. Dear brother of Rosemary O'Connor and Jeanne Westervelt. Loving grandfather of Rick, Corrine, Renee and Cynthia Marren; Kevin and Sean Marren. Step-grandfather of Dominic, Bryan and Kimberly Di Persia; Dennis, Christopher and Jessica Elliott; Thomas and Eric Hills. He is also survived by five great-grandchildren. The family will gather with their relatives and friends for a Funeral Liturgy at Church of the Assumption, Emerson, NJ on Thursday, December 10 at 10:30 AM. Cremation will be private. The family will receive their relatives and friends at Becker Funeral Home, 219 Kinderkamack Road, Westwood, NJ on Wednesday, December 9, 2-4 and 7-9 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made in Joseph's name to Valley Home Care Hospice, 15 Essex Road, Paramus, NJ 07652.
