Joseph M. Suarez

SUAREZ, Joseph ‘Jose’ M, 90, of Hillsdale, NJ, passed away on Wednesday, January 17th, 2018. Joseph is survived by his dear wife of 67 years Gloria (nee Rodriguez); his children Laura, Ramona Rose and her husband Steven and Matthew; his grandchildren Chelsea, Salvatore and Marco; his brother James; brother in law Richard Rodriguez as well as several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his son Richard and brother John. After his military service and graduating the University of Havana, Joseph joined his father at J.S. Suarez; which was established in NYC in 1938. As an icon in the handbag industry, he went on to manage "Suarez" and was joined there by his wife in 1975. Together they grew the business to new heights, and reluctantly retired in 2013. The business is now successfully maintained by his children Ramona and Matthew. The family will receive guests at Becker Funeral Home, 219 Kinderkamack Rd, Westwood, NJ on Sunday, January 21st from 3-7PM. A Mass celebrating Joseph’s life and faith will be held at St. John The Baptist R.C. Church in Hillsdale, NJ on Monday, January 22nd at 9:30AM with interment at Maryrest Cemetery in Mahwah, NJ to follow.
