Kathryn Julia Naprstek (n. Levitzki) passed away peacefully, of natural causes in New Milford, N.J., on April 2, 2015. She was 98. She was born February 3, 1917, in Hackensack, N.J., daughter of Frank and Anna Levitzki. With her husband, Arthur William Naprstek, Sr., whom she married in 1939, Kathryn raised two boys, Arthur W. Jr. and Joel F., as well as Arthur Sr.'s younger sister, Doris. Kathryn raised her children in Bergen County, N.J., and lived there until the mid seventies. From there, she and Arthur Sr. settled into retirement at their Morning Mist Farm, in Greenville, N.Y. There they led a comfortable life, enjoying each other's company and building and creating together. Their relationship was a rare one. They had a harmony and a caring knowing of each other not often seen. It shined from them both. Arthur Sr. predeceased her in 2004. Kathryn was a self taught, lifelong artist, woodcarver and craftsperson. Throughout it all she was an optimistic, caring lady, inspiring others with her good nature and love. She held a strong belief in prayer, all the way to the end.
Especially inspired and cared for, were her three grandsons, Paul, Chris and David who all remember many formative young days spent with Grandma, painting rocks into turtles or walking through the woods, seeing all they could see. She was an epic storyteller and would dutifully stay for as long as necessary with the young boys, easing their way to sleep and nurturing their imaginations. She is survived by her sons, Arthur W. Naprstek, Jr. and Joel F. Naprstek; her grandsons, Paul M. Naprstek, Christopher Naprstek, and David A. Naprstek; and her great-grandsons, Austin John and Viktor Tao.
