A member of the Actors’ Equity Association, she appeared in numerous stage productions and Broadway tours, including as the understudy of Guinevere opposite Robert Goulet in the national tour of Camelot.
A graduate of California State University, Sacramento, Mrs. Gillies-Bodt began her acting career in California before moving to New York City, where she studied under noted actress Marya Dornya.
Her lifelong love for performing was surpassed only by her affection for her husband, Noah Bodt, and children, Julia Bodt and Derek Bodt.
She is also survived by her father Robert Gillies; mother Joan Carey; stepmother Rusty Gillies; half-brothers Kevin Gillies, Brian Gillies and Tony King; half-sister Valerie Hall; stepbrother Jeff Perkins; stepsister Kerry Rich; best friend Rebecca Hall; and adoring in-laws.
In her adopted home of Westwood, Mrs. Gillies-Bodt was a friend and confidant to many. A fitness enthusiast, she taught pilates and zumba throughout Bergen County.
She was known affectionately as “Kris” to her family and friends, who will remember her charm, kindness, radiant smile, devotion to her children, and enduring spirit.
“You’ll remember her as the nicest person you’ll maybe ever meet and for her extraordinary talent,” her husband, Noah, said. “Her kindness was genuine. Her sweet way was real.”
