

Lawrence J. Kelly of Montvale, NJ, on Friday, February 2, 2007. Beloved husband of Rosemarie Kelly (nee Smith). Devoted father of Terri Pisano and her late husband Arthur, Lawrence J. Kelly, Jr. and his wife Madonna, Stephen J. Kelly and his wife Rebecca, and Diane M. Durbin and her husband Robert. Dear brother of Mary Duncan, Catherine Kelly and Neale Kelly and his wife Margaret. Loving grandfather of Artie and Anthony Pisano; Brianna and Katherine Kelly; Christany, Jennifer and Jonathan Kelly; and Isabella Rose Durbin. He was born in Conshohocken, PA on August 18 1933 to Lawrence and Mary Kelly. He met his wife Rosemarie at Walker Brothers, his first professional job. They were married three years later on September 5, 1959. He went to eight years of night school to obtain his Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from Villanova University and was a proud Villanova alumnus. Larry had a brilliant mind and thoroughly enjoyed his years of work as an electrical engineer at the Okonite Company. He was well respected in the wire and cable industry by his coworkers and competitors alike for his intelligence, integrity and his ability to stand up for the things he believed in. He was a life member of the IEEE and a long-time member of the ICC, AREMA, NFPA and ICEA organizations. He received the W. Irving Middletown Award from the ICEA organization for outstanding contribution. He loved spending his retirement years traveling and being with his family. He was happiest when all of his children and grandchildren were around him. He was well known as a storyteller and could make you laugh even if you had heard him tell the story ten times before. He loved to watch college basketball and prayed for the next Villanova NCAA Title. Larry battled cancer for ten years and continued to amaze the doctors with his indomitable spirit. There will never be another like him. Funeral Liturgy at Church of Our Lady of Mercy, Park Ridge, NJ on Wednesday at 10 AM. The family will receive their friends at Becker Funeral Home, 219 Kinderkamack Road, Westwood, NJ on Monday, 7-9 PM and Tuesday, 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Contributions in Larry's memory can be made to Glaucoma Research at Scheie Eye Institute in Philadelphia, PA.
