Lawrence Padrevito passed away peacefully at the age of 99, surrounded by his loving family. Born on Christie Street in Manhattan, Larry lived a life defined by devotion to family, service, and joy in life’s simple pleasures.
A proud World War II combat veteran, Larry served in the Pacific Theater. After his service, he built a career as a printer, a trade he took great pride in.
Upon returning from the Army, Larry went on his first date with Rita Collelo at Coney Island. That date marked the beginning of a love story that lasted nearly 70 years of marriage, until Rita’s passing in 2016. Together, they bought a home in the Bronx, where they raised their five daughters, before moving to Hillsdale, New Jersey in their later life.
Larry was a devoted father and the proud patriarch of a large and loving family - his greatest legacy. He is survived by his five daughters, 10 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
He had a special love for Christmas, faithfully cheered for the New York Mets, and enjoyed gambling trips to Atlantic City and the Bahamas. A lifelong dog lover, Larry also never turned down his favorite meal: chicken parmesan with angel hair pasta. During retirement, “Mr. Larry” was a crossing guard for Montvale school district until his late 80s, a job that truly brought him joy.
Larry Padrevito will be remembered for his strength, loyalty, and the deep love he had for his family. His life was well lived, and he will be deeply missed.
