She is reunited with her husband Frank— the boy she fell madly in love with on Virginia Avenue in the Bronx. Together, they proved that romance and fun could last forever. Lilly lived life with unmatched zest and generosity. Her kitchen was her kingdom, where creative cursing mixed with the aromas of her legendary Sunday gravy. She loved sharing her food and welcoming everyone into her Cresskill home. She lived for her children, Richard and Christina, and son-in-law Bernie.
Even as dementia stole her memories, it never dimmed her love and pride for her granddaughters Aleia, Francesca, Lilliana, and Giavonna—four women who embody the best of Nanny's generous and joyful spirit. She adored Aleia's husband, Steve, and Francesca's partner Erik. Her best friend was her sister Diana, who, in a twist of fate, also married a wonderful man named Frank. The two sisters raised their families side by side, creating memories and traditions that will last generations.
Lillian is predeceased by her parents Vera and Joseph, and brothers Sonny, Sammy and Bobby. She leaves behind her sister-in-law Marti, countless cousins, nieces, nephews, and too many friends to count. For Lillian, Sundays were sacred—a time for family, friendship, and fabulous meals shared with those she loved.
We invite her family and friends to join us for one more Sunday meal on November 17, 2024, at 1 PM at Aurora’s Restaurant in Old Tappan.
