Louis A. Zayas, 52, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 18, 2018, surrounded by his family. Beloved husband of Marguerite Mills for twenty-three years. Devoted father of Andrew L. and Logan A. Zayas. Loving son of Luis and Aurora Zayas. Dear brother of Dr. Vivian Zayas, PhD. and Uncle to Lucia Zayas. Born in Matanzas, Cuba, he moved with his family to Madrid, Spain and later came to America and settled in Weehawken. NJ. He attended St. Joseph of the Palisades High School, West New York, NJ. where he was a standout lineman on the football team. After graduating in 1984, Louis continued his education at Rutgers College and spent one year studying at the University of Oxford, Oxford, England. He graduated with a JD from the University of Virginia School of Law, He was a former Bronx County ADA and trial lawyer with over 100 trials in New York, New Jersey and Florida, Louis, founded ”Zayas Law Firm” in 1996, and dedicated his career to helping individuals in a wide variety of complicated civil and criminal litigation. The family will receive their friends at Becker Funeral Home, 219 Kinderkamack Road, Westwood, on Sunday, 3-7 pm. A Memorial Service celebrating Louis’ life and faith will be held on Monday at Old Stone Church, 500 East Saddle River Road, Upper Saddle River at 1:00 pm.
