Margaret Mary Coyne, “Marge,” 91, of Woodcliff Lake, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 20, 2026, surrounded by her family. She was the beloved wife of the late John Coyne, and the devoted mother of Margaret Minogue (Ray), Michele Piedmonte (Mark), and Mary Beth Mulry (Ray). She was a dear sister to Ann Clohessy and the late Thomas Connolly; sister-in-law to Bernadette Connolly and the late John Clohessy, Edward and Audrey Coyne, Eileen and Thomas McDougall, and Patricia Coyne.
She was an adoring grandmother to Sean, Colin, Meghan, Andrew, Lauren, and Ella, and a loving aunt to Jennifer, Kate, Jean-Marie, and the late Eddie.
Marge was born in New York City, the daughter of Mary and Thomas Connolly, and spent 56 years in the home she cherished in Woodcliff Lake. Before retiring, she worked as a secretary at A.E. Bruggemann & Co. She was a devoted and active member of Our Lady Mother of the Church, where her faith was a cornerstone and her friendships ran deep. She found great purpose in praying for others, carrying their intentions in her heart each day.
Anyone who knew our mother will remember her as someone who made it a priority to connect with others. She was the thread that wove our family together, reaching out to relatives near and far, from Irish cousins abroad to friends from every stage of her life. She took great joy in nurturing these relationships and cherished the company of her loved ones.
She gave in ways that didn’t ask for recognition. Knitting and crocheting blankets for babies and for those who were sick, quietly caring for people without needing acknowledgement. She played the piano beautifully — a talent she kept to herself, something personal, quiet, and entirely her own. She was well-read, incredibly intelligent, and independent, yet one of the most humble people you could ever meet.
Marge loved hearing about where people were going and what they were experiencing, especially when it came to travel. She had a way of sharing in those moments, right alongside you. She also enjoyed her own trips with family, no matter how many miles it took to get there.
She leaves behind a family who felt her presence in many meaningful ways, and we will carry forward the example she lived every day.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, April 24, from 4:00–8:00 p.m. at Becker Funeral Home, Westwood, NJ. A Mass celebrating Margaret’s life and faith will be held on Saturday, April 25, at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady Mother of the Church in Woodcliff Lake, NJ. Interment will follow at Ascension Cemetery in Airmont, NY.
