

Margaret Dolores (nee Seifriz) Maxon, 78, passed away peacefully with her family present Wednesday, February 22, in Auburn, Ga., after a long bout with Parkinson’s. Dolores, as she preferred to be called, grew up in Maspeth, Queens, where she attended Grover Cleveland High School. She relocated with her parents and sister to Englewood, N.J., where she met her husband, Norman Allen Maxon. They took up residence in the Township of Washington, where together they raised their four children. She served the community for many years by volunteering on the Ladies Auxiliary of the Washington Township Volunteer Fire Department.
Dolores worked as an administrative assistant in New York City, Bergen County and, after retirement, in Florida. She is predeceased by her husband of 55 years Norman and her parents Margaret and Theodore Seifriz. She is survived by her four children: Mark, Claire and her husband Bill Melia, Laura and her husband Mike Hanrahan and Ronald and his wife Becky; her sister Linda and her husband John Russo; brother-in-law Peter Maxon and his wife Adel; and brother-in-law Earl Maxon. In addition, she leaves behind her grandchildren: Jesse and Cody Maxon; Matthew, Jonathan and Christopher Stegherr; Erica and Adam Maxon and Devin Hanrahan; and Sage and Sean Maxon; and great-grandchildren Collin and Anna Reese Stegherr.
She was outgoing, happy, always willing to help, and enjoyed life and spending time with family and friends and mostly her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was the light of every gathering and always there with a helping hand when needed. She will be forever missed and loved by her family and friends.
A memorial gathering to celebrate Dolores’ life and receive family and friends will be held at Becker Funeral Home on Saturday, March 3, 10:30am to 12 noon. A memorial service will held at 12 noon with the burial of cremated remains to following at Westwood Cemetery, Westwood, NJ.
