Margaret G. Schaeffer

SCHAEFFER, Margaret G. (nee Wolfahrt), 94 of Oradell, formerly of Washington Township passed away on November 5, 2016. Born in Ridgewood, NY, she grew up in Glendale, NY and moved to Washington Township in 1953 where she lived until 2010. She was very active in Girl Scouting throughout her life serving as a leader, troop organizer, Program Consultant and a delegate to the Girl Scout National Council. She was member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Washington Township Fire Department, serving as its Secretary, Treasurer and President. She was a member of the Church of the Savior, Paramus serving many years as a member of the Altar Pastoral Aid Circle and volunteer Church Records Secretary. Although living in an Assisted Living Facility and then a Nursing Home for the last six years of her life, Margaret could always be found participating in the various activities that were offered. She was predeceased by her beloved husband John Joseph Schaeffer after 48 years of marriage, daughter Mary Ann Jongsma and brother Edwin Wolfahrt. She is survived by her daughters Joanne Kwasniewski and her husband Ralph of Washington Township and Susan Schaeffer and her wife Claudette of Rochelle Park. She leaves behind her grandchildren John, Karin, Keri and Christopher, seven great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. The family will receive friends on Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9, Becker Funeral Home, 219 Kinderkamack Road, Westwood. Funeral Service is Thursday 10:00 a.m. at Church of the Savior, 643 Forest Ave, Paramus, NJ 07652. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Alzheimer’s Association, (www.alznj.org), in her memory.
