Born in Belém, Brazil, Maria was one of six children. She built a distinguished 39-year career with Petrobras in New York City, earning a reputation for integrity and dedication. She had lived in Old Tappan for 17 years.
A devout Roman Catholic, Maria was known for her gentle nature, generosity, and resilience. Her warmth touched everyone who knew her.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Arthur B. Carril. Maria is survived by her son, Arthur B. Carril Jr.; daughter-in-law, Lori A. Carril; grandchildren, Arthur B. Carril III and Natalie L. Carril; and sister, Fernanda Pinheiro.
She will be remembered with love by her family and friends.
A funeral Mass will be held on Friday, October 2, 2026 at 9:30am in St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church located at 268 Old Tappan Road, Old Tappan, NJ 07675.
Burial will follow after Mass on Friday, October 2, 2026 at 11:15am going to George Washington Memorial Park located at 234 Paramus Road, Paramus, NJ 07652.
