

Marie Ceru of Allendale, NJ, passed away peacefully on March, 28, 2021. Born on October 23, 1912, in New York City to Rose and Carlo Rossi, she was the oldest of her siblings Tess, Rose and Peter, all deceased.
Marie was predeceased by her husband, Carlo, whom she married in 1937. She was loving mother to Carolyn Murray (James deceased) and Adrienne Ceru, a grandmother to Lorelei (married to Steve Devine) and Kristine (married to Thomas Diverio), and a great grandmother “Nonni” to Kathleen, Thomas, and Nicholas.
For many years, Marie was employed doing hand embroidery for clothes sold at Bergdorf Goodman.
In 1955, Marie and Carlo moved the family to Dumont, NJ. She became an active member at the Dumont Senior Center where she knitted many pairs of slippers for hospital patients. Marie was a terrific cook, especially known for her risotto, lasagna, and special turkey stuffing. Marie was a vibrant and vivacious 108 year old. At age 104, she would often be found celebrating holidays with family or playing cards with friends. Marie may have physically departed us, but her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends. Someone so full of life and spirit touched many during her journey through life.
Visitation Wednesday, March 31 at 1:00 PM at St. Gabriel the Archangel Church, Saddle River, NJ, followed by a 1:30 PM Funeral Mass. Interment will be held at Ascension Cemetery, Airmont, NY.
