Maria Rose (Mimi) DiCrosta died peacefully on Tuesday, April 7 at Brookdale Nursing home in Emerson, N.J. She was born in Hackensack, N.J. October 14, 1919 to Antoinette (Gaeta) and Anthony Paonessa.
She is survived by her son, Robert (Paula), three grandsons, Gregory (Noelle), Paul, and Nicholas (Elizabeth); two great grandchildren, Josephine Marie DiCrosta and Hudson Giles DiCrosta and many loving nieces and nephews of the Paonessa and DiCrosta families.
Mimi was predeceased by her husband of 45 years, Louis C. DiCrosta, her parents, brothers Thomas, Joseph and Philip and her dear sister Lena (Iurato). She loved Frank Sinatra and Elvis, and she proudly recounted the story of going to the Paramount to see Sinatra, and hiding in the ladies’ room to stay for the second show. She loved taking cruises with her family in retirement, and taking the bus to Atlantic City with Lena to play the slot machines and go bicycle riding on the boardwalk.
But more than anything Mimi loved her family. Louis was the light of her life. And nothing could bring a smile to her face like being with her siblings and their families. She especially loved being great grandmother to Josephine and died on the same day her great grandson Hudson was born. Her unconditional love and generosity are a lasting gift to our family.
The loving care that Mimi received in the Clare Bridge wing of Brookdale, Emerson, allowed her to live her last five years with dignity and comfort, and our family is eternally grateful. Due to the current pandemic, plans for a memorial service will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please send donations payable to “Holiday Fund” c/o Brookdale, Emerson, attn.: Executive Director, 590 Old Hook Rd. Emerson, NJ 07630
