Marie was born on January 8, 1935, in Turlough, County Mayo, Ireland, to John and Mary Doherty on their beloved family farm, Rockfield.
At 18 years old, Marie immigrated to America, where she met the love of her life, Harry Barrett. Together, they shared 61 years of marriage, building a life rooted in faith, Irish heritage, and family. They raised five children in Manhattan and Jamaica, Queens, before settling in Park Ridge, New Jersey, in 1981.
Marie was a devoted wife, loving mother to Henry, John, Kieran, Maureen (Mike Bartoli), and Neil (Helen), and cherished grandmother to Moreah, Michael (Jaclyn), Taryn, Brendan, Andrew, Dylan, Brianna, and Shannon. She was a beloved sister to Joe and was predeceased by her siblings Phyllis, Jimmy, and Christine. She was also a beloved member of the whole Barrett Clan.
Marie had a heart and home that were always open. Through her generosity, baking, volunteer work, and genuine kindness, she made everyone feel welcome. Her family included more than 50 nieces and nephews, along with countless lifelong friends. A successful real estate professional, she also enjoyed gardening, sewing, playing bridge, traveling, and bringing family and friends together. The highlight of her life was spending time with her grandchildren. Marie was truly an everyday saint with extraordinary faith, kindness, generosity, and unwavering love who touched countless lives.
She is now reunited with her beloved Harry, her parents, siblings, and dear friends and family who went before her. Her legacy lives on through the family she cherished and the many lives she touched.

Visitation will be held at Becker Funeral Home, 219 Kinderkamack Road, Westwood, NJ 07675, US, on November 6, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
A Funeral Mass will take place at Our Lady of Mercy Roman Catholic Church, 2 Fremont Ave, Park Ridge, NJ 07656, US, on November 7, 2026, at 10:00 am.
Final Resting Place will be at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 5 Bradhurst Ave, Hawthorne, NY 10532, US, on November 7, 2026, at 11:45 am.
