Mary Ann Lyon

LYON, Mary Ann (nee Damken) 56, of Hillsdale, NJ on Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at home surrounded by her loving family. Beloved wife of Jeffrey Lyon. Devoted mother of Allison and Sean Lyon. Loving daughter of the late John and Margaret Damken. Dear sister of John Damken and his wife Cheryl, Dr. Claire Damken-Brown and her husband Larry, Dr. Peter Damken and his wife Michele, Michael Damken and his wife Lorraine, and Kenneth Damken. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Mary was a highly educated woman, with various degrees in the healthcare field. She obtained a B.S.N in Nursing at University of Michigan, followed by earning an M.S. in Adult Fitness and Cardiac Rehabilitation at University of Wisconsin Lacrosse, as well as an M.S. in Management with an emphasis in Health Care from New York University. Mary also earned her FACHE certification. Her career began as an ICU nurse at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center. As she continued her education, she developed a passion for rehabilitation. This led her to becoming an Exercise Physiologist and eventually an Administrative Director of Cardiac Services at Pascack Valley Hospital. Upon the closing of Pascack Valley Hospital, Mary became the Assistant Vice President of Clinical Services at Bergen Regional Medical Center, where she was soon promoted to the Vice President of Acute and Ambulatory Services. After leaving Bergen Regional, she became Director of Employee Health at Holy Name Medical Center. Visitation will be held at Becker Funeral Home located at 219 Kinderkamack Road in Westwood on Sunday from 4-8pm. The funeral service will be held on Monday from 11am-12pm followed by the burial at George Washington Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family is asking that donations be made to the American Cancer Society at the address of 20 Mercer Street in Hackensack, NJ 07601.
