Mary B. Walther

October 31, 1940 – January 5, 2025

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Mary B. Walther, age 84, who peacefully passed away on January 5, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born on October 31, 1940, in Leitrim, Ireland, Mary B. was the beloved daughter of the late Thomas and Mary-Cate (Oates) Costello. At the age of 18, she moved to America. Mary B. was as an Assistant Branch Manager at United Jersey Bank and retired in 1996. Mary B. was preceded in death by her loving husband, Donald O. Walther; her parents, Thomas, and Mary-Cate; her sister, Margaret McDermott; and her son-in-law, Thomas P. Keery, husband of Patricia Keery. She is survived by her dear brother, Thomas Costello. She leaves behind her four devoted children: Janet Walther, Patricia Keery, Donald T. Walther, and Kathleen O’Hea and her husband, Michael and her four grandchildren, who loved her dearly: Kevin Keery, Caroline O’Hea, Griffin O’Hea, and Owen O’Hea.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Irish radio station, Ceol na nGael WFUV Radio, in her honor. It was Mary B’s Sunday station of choice. She loved filling her home with WFUV’s Irish Music and passed peacefully on a Sunday with it playing.

A mass of Christian burial for Mary will be held Tuesday, January 7, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 11:45 AM at Church of the Assumption, 29 Jefferson Ave, Emerson, NJ 07630.
