Michael J. Cangelosi, 58, of Township of Washington, passed away on Saturday, September 11, 2021. Beloved husband of Mary T. Cangelosi (nee McGrath). Devoted son of Helena Cangelosi and the late John Cangelosi, Jr. Dearest brother of John P. Cangelosi (Carolyn), Ann Dixon (Chris), and David Cangelosi (Manuel). Cherished son-in-law of Margaret J. McGrath, brother-in-law to Tom McGrath, Patrick (Indira) McGrath, Katy McGrath, Rob Golabek and a doting uncle to Anastasia, Maria, Lucy, Brigid, Joseph and Sophia.
Born in Westwood, NJ, he spent most of his life in the Township of Washington, NJ. He loved playing sports, especially softball and enjoyed four consecutive championships as a key player on the Brewer’s softball team. Mike was an owner/operator of Carney Tree Service in Wyckoff, NJ and retired in 2008.
For the last 50 years, Mike enjoyed camping with his wife and others at Hidden Pond Campsites in Brant Lake, NY. Other than his beloved dog, Roxie, fishing was his passion, and he always told stories of how he fought and landed the “Big One.” Mike loved to make people laugh. If you knew him, you have probably been a victim of one of his elaborate pranks/practical jokes.
The family will receive their relatives and friends on Friday, September 17, 2021 between 4:00-8:00 pm at Becker Funeral Home, 219 Kinderkamack Road, Westwood. An Elk’s service will be held at 7:00 pm as Mike was a long-time member of Westwood Elks Lodge.
A Mass celebrating Michael’s life and faith will be held on Saturday, September 18, 2021 at 10:00 am at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church in Township of Washington. Interment will follow at George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Friends of Spring House, PO Box 9233 Paramus, NJ 07653 and/or Miracle on the Mountain PO Box 1596, Woodbridge, NJ 07095.
