Michael J. Galasso

He was a lifelong resident of Emerson, NJ from 1961-2017 when he relocated to Delaware.

Loving husband to Gloria Galasso. Cherished husband to his first wife Eleanore Galasso of 47 years who passed away in 2012. Proud and loving Dad to Michael, Joseph and Raymond Galasso.

Mike was a proud member of the Emerson Police Department from 1969-1999 where he retired at the rank of Sergeant.

Before becoming a Police Officer, Mike was part owner of a service station in Park Ridge, NJ and worked for Branch Motor Express in Newark, NJ.

Mike had many business ventures over the years with Eleanore and his sons, most notably Etna Driver and Limousine Service in Emerson, NJ from 1977-2017and also Etna Telephone Answering Service in Oradell, NJ from 1980-1990 and Florida Sun Tanning Salon in Oradell, NJ from 1990-2000.

He is a life member of the Emerson Volunteer Ambulance Corps, where he became a member in 1967, where he was past President.

Mike is a life member of the NJ State PBA Local 206, where he was past President and Delegate.

He was the creator and liaison of PBA Local 206 Pascack Valley Police Vest Fund and ran that program until 2017, providing bullet proof vests to new Police Officers of Local 206, and re-vesting active Officers after 5 years of service.

He started and ran the security department for the Emerson Convalescent Center for 20 years.

He was a member and past President of the Emerson Chamber of Commerce.

He will be remembered for being a cop's cop, great family man and a hard worker. He helped many people over the years and would do anything for anybody.

He will also be remembered for having a big heart, but he was not a mincer of words. He was a man of perfection and character, and he expected the same from anyone close to him. He always got the job done exquisitely.

He enjoyed building things, and back in the day hunting in Saugerties, NY with his sons and best friend Tony of Long Island, NY who recently passed away in 2025.

He was proud and supportive of his entire family, and he will be sadly missed by many friends that he made over his lifetime.

Visitation will be held at Becker Funeral Home, 219 Kinderkamack Road, Westwood, NJ 07675, on September 30, 2026, from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm.

A Funeral Mass will take place at Church of the Assumption, 29 Jefferson Ave, Emerson, NJ 07630, on October 1, 2026, at 10:00 am.

A Committal Service will be held at Garden of Memories, 300 Soldier Hill Road, Township of Washington, New Jersey 07676, on October 1, 2026, NJ following the mass.
