

Michael H. Smolenack, Jr. age 90, resident of Montvale, NJ since 1960, (65 years), passed away in the early hours of Monday 16 March 2026. He was born in Paterson, NJ on 30 October 1935 to Michael and Helen Smolenack and spent his youth in Paramus, NJ.
He is predeceased by his three (3) sisters: Anna, Frances & Henrietta. He is survived by his loving wife Joyce, married for sixty-five (65) years and his son Randy.
Michael is an Army veteran who served for 2 years between 6 May 1958 and 6 January 1959, serving with Battery B 2nd Howitzer Battalion (8”) 18th Artillery.
He was a member of the International Operating Engineers local 825 for sixty (60) years. Operating heavy equipment and later as a Superintendent. He worked for Sette Engineering, Conduit & Foundation Corporation and Slattery, working on many infrastructure projects in New Jersey, New York, Maryland, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Florida.
Michael was an active member in many national and local clubs: Antique Truck Club of America (ATCA), American Truck Historical Society (ATHS), Metro Jersey Chapter, Antique Caterpillar Machinery Owners Club (ACMOC), and Historical Construction Equipment Association (HCEA). He very much enjoyed attending meetings and National Shows.
Throughout the years, Michael's neighbors in Montvale always admired his beautiful, well-maintained lawn and landscaping.

Visitation will be held at Becker Funeral Home, 219 Kinderkamack Road, Westwood, NJ 07675, on March 19, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm, and again on March 19, 2026, from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
A Funeral Service will be held at Becker Funeral Home, 219 Kinderkamack Road, Westwood, NJ 07675, on March 20, 2026, from 10:00 am to 10:30 am.
Interment will follow at Hackensack Cemetery, Hackensack, NJ.
