

Nicholas (“Nick”), 95, of Norwood, NJ, formerly of Roselle Park, Oradell and Westwood, NJ, departed peacefully on Friday, January 30, 2026. Born the youngest son of a shoemaker and his wife, Nick grew up in Roselle Park, and enlisted in the Navy as an Ensign after college.
He enjoyed a successful career as an advertising executive based in New York City, winning several awards including a Clio. He was known for his outstanding work with the United States Marine Corps for the majority of his career, producing and directing numerous recruiting films, commercials and public service announcements for the Marines and other clients of J. Walter Thompson, where he served as a vice-president until his retirement.
Nick's family always came first. He was an accomplished photographer, filmmaker and writer, and enjoyed film, television, books and music. He was blessed with a great sense of humor and effervescent personality. His children have fond recollections of his love for his wife, his significant and indelible contributions to their upbringing and education, his devotion to God and the Church, his exemplary coaching of his sons’ Little League baseball teams, his charitable volunteer efforts and his marvelous and intricate wood artistry; just a few highlights of an extraordinary life well led.
Preceded in death by his loving wife of 52 years, Maria (nee Jugovich). Devoted father of Nicholas J. and his wife Cathy; Denise Reeves; Christopher and his wife Denise; and Matthew and his wife Karyn. Loving grandfather to Jennifer, Joseph and his wife Michelle, Nicole, Hannah, Danielle and her husband Troy, Jonathan, Christopher, Daniel and Matthew as well as two great-grandchildren, Jude and Gianna. Preceded in death by his brother, Patrick DeMarco and his sister, Lena Lewis.
The family will receive guests at Becker Funeral Home, 219 Kinderkamack Road, Westwood, NJ on Sunday, February 8th from 12-3PM. A Mass celebrating Nick's life and faith will be held at St. Andrew R.C. Church in Westwood, NJ on Monday, February 9th, at 10:30AM with interment at Tappan Reformed Church Cemetery in Tappan, NY to follow.
