On November 22, Nicholas Donato, 69, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family.

Born on March 5, 1950 to Samuel and Theresa Donato, Nick, and his sister Michele, grew up in Jersey City before moving to Ridgefield Park. He fell in love 50 years ago and shared 46 beautiful years of marriage with the love of his life, Diane. They raised their family in Washington Township for the past 36 years. His proudest accomplishment was seeing his children follow his example, find love and start their own families. Lisa married Chuck and they have 2 children; Noelle and Dominic. Nicholas Jr., married Cristina and they also have 2 children; Simona and Nicholas.

Nick cherished the time spent with his family at their summer home in Seaside Park for over 55 years. He loved boating, the beach, laughing and reminiscing by the fire pit, but most importantly buying ice cream for his 4 grandchildren. His family will continue this tradition for generations to come.

Nick provided for his family as an accomplished financial advisor since 1973. He found the greatest satisfaction from helping others meet their financial goals; he treated clients like family and many are lifelong friends. His passion, trustworthiness, and honesty were the pillars upon which he built a successful family business, The Donato Financial Group, with his son and protégé. The business will continue to prosper under the leadership of Nicholas Donato, Jr.

The bond of family was paramount to Nick. He took great joy in traveling to Italy with this family, making others smile and sharing the benefits of his hard work. He was a man of strong faith, dedicated to his community and charitable organizations.

The family will receive their relatives and friends at Becker Funeral Home, 219 Kinderkamack Road, Westwood, NJ on Monday, November 25 from 2-4 and 7-9PM. The Funeral Mass celebrating Nick's life and faith will be held at Church of the Assumption, Emerson, NJ on Tuesday, November 26 at 10:30AM.

In lieu of flowers, we encourage you to make a donation in his name to one of his favorite charities such as St. Jude Children’s Hospital, The Arc of Bergen & Passaic Counties Inc., Valley Hospice or the charity of your choice. Becker-funeralhome.com

Dear Donato Family, We are very sorry to hear about the passing of Nick Donato. We have known Nick and his family for many years as we are neighbors and friends in Seaside Park. Nick was a great man, who loved his family with all of his heart. He was also kind to all of us who were lucky to know him. I will never forget the kindness and compassion that he showed our family when our Father Louis died in 2005. Nick and his family made my Mother Carolyn, feel like she was part of the Donato Family. Every Friday night in the summer, Nick would invite my Mom over for pizza and a little wine. We are forever grateful to Nick for being so compassionate to our family.
Nick’s love of his wife, children and grandchildren was obvious to all. His smile when the little ones were playing in his yard, at the beach or on his boat showed how happy he was and how much he loved his family. His wife Diane, two children Lisa and Nick, Jr, and their families will carry this love with them forever.
I feel very lucky to have known Nick and will miss him greatly. Please know that Nick will be remembered forever for his warm, generous spirit and that he will live on in the lives of his children and grandchildren.

My heartfelt sympathy goes to your family, Nick will be greatly missed. He was a wonderful and caring person with his family and his clients. I met Nick when my husband was a client through his work. Nick came to pay his respects at Hellmut's viewing which I truly appreciated.. Nick then became my financial advisor and was a comfort for me with his knowledge and ease of making decisions. I considered him as a friend.Sometimes we would meet at Starbucks in Franklin Lakes have coffee and a great conversation. He was always available when you needed his help and advice and did so at my home also. I know you will make him proud following in his footsteps. It has been a pleasure to know him and will always be remembered. Love Sue Riess and family

Dear Diane, Nick, Lisa, Michelle,
Words do not do justice for what I feel today in my heavy heart. Nick and Tony were "Chosen Brothers" & one of the greatest gifts, "My Tony" gave me was all of you! You welcomed me with open arms from day one and we made so many beautiful, fun filled memories together that shine like diamonds in my mind! I admired Nick for he has always been the perfect role model for a
"Real Man", by walking the talk as a Catholic Husband, Father, Brother and Friend, while thoroughly enjoying his life ! Nick's generous heart, easy laugh, and gentle ways brought light to all when near. Until we meet again, with a grateful heart I say, "Thank you Nick! (and have fun with MyTony up in Heaven!)
All my Love and prayers,
Ninette

Diane, Lisa and Nick,
I am so so sorry. Nick was a great man, friend, mentor and just hearing this this morning I am speechless. You are all in my prayers. Nick was such a great family man. I know how much he loved you all. In early years we always spoke about business but as life evolved it was always about you all and the grandkids who he was thrilled to see and spend time with. I learned so much from him and am thinking of you all .
God Bless,
