

Olga Caridad Sotomayor (nee Zincke), 61, of Alpine, NJ passed away peacefully Friday, November 21, 2014, after a short battle with cancer. Born in Matanzas, Cuba, Olga grew up in West New York, NJ, and lived in River Vale, NJ for 14 years before moving to Alpine, NJ in 2008. A graduate of Memorial High School in West New York, Olga spent more than 30 years as an office manager of a dental lab before retiring and focusing on her volunteer work. For more than 20 years, Olga was a passionate volunteer for various Hospice organizations around Bergen County, devoting herself to bringing patients peace at the end of their lives and helping their families find comfort in the face of a loved one’s death. Her caring spirit and generosity extended beyond her volunteer work, as she was always available for anyone who needed her, whether it be to plan a party, offer advice, or scour the internet for a perfect birthday outfit. Olga was a loving mother to her children Stacey and Jason Sotomayor and a caring sister to Maggie Zincke. She is predeceased by her parents, Raul and Maria Zincke; her brother, Paul Zincke; and her husband, Angel Sotomayor. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday 4-8pm at Becker Funeral Home in Westwood, NJ and a funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday 10am at St. John the Baptist Church, Hillsdale, NJ. Entombment to follow in Garden of Memories, Township of Washington, NJ. In lieu of flowers, the family will appreciate memorial donations to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.
