Patricia D. Kent

Patricia D. Kent (nee Cooney), 93, of Montvale, NJ, peacefully passed away at home surrounded by her loving family on Friday, November 26, 2021.

Pat was born on March 15th, 1928 in Teaneck, NJ. She and her 8 siblings grew up in Bogota, NJ, spending the summers in Perry, ME and Lavallette, NJ. Pat worked at General Motors, where she met the love of her life, Doug. They were married in 1951, and moved to Montvale to build a beautiful home with 6 children. Later in life, Pat worked for A&P Corporate HQ and retired after 26 years. Pat shared the love of the beach with her family by continuing to frequent Lavallette with her kids and grandkids. She led a life devoted to her faith, being a long-time member of Our Lady of Mercy Parish, serving in Rosary Society, CFM, and Lazarus Ministry.

Pat's greatest joy in life, aside from making her marble pound cake and Irish soda bread, was her family. She filled 3 generations with love and happiness that will continue to grow as her family does. She was loved by everyone who knew her. Pat's spirit of grace, generosity, and compassion will forever be honored by the warmth she provided to her community, friends, and family.

Patricia was the beloved wife of the late Douglas F. Kent (deceased in 1973), devoted mother to Douglas Kent (Toni) of Leonardo, NJ, Patti Nicolella of Los Angeles, CA, Susan Kent of NYC, Karen Kent of Hightstown, NJ, Barbara Kent of NYC and James Kent (Lisa) of Duxbury, MA. Cherished Nana to Courtney, Keri, Brooke, Savanna, Baxter, Sofia and Tayler, and great grandmother to Everett and Addilynn.

Pat was sister to the late Kay Fleming, John Cooney, Ethel O’Mara, May Primrose, Joseph Cooney and James Cooney. She is survived by her sister, Gloria Grunn, her brother, George Cooney, her sister-in-law, Joan Kent, and is much loved by many nieces and nephews.

Burial will be private. A mass and celebration of her life will be planned for the Spring of 2022.
