Patrick Francis Clohessy

It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of our beloved father, Patrick Francis Clohessy. Frank passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Saturday, August 15, 2026. Frank was born in Jersey City, NJ on August 3, 1931.

At two years old, he moved back to Ireland with his family. He was raised in Kilkee, County Clare, where he was a force to be reckoned with on the Kilkee football team. Frank left home as a teenager and worked in construction in England. He returned to the United States in 1958, where he met the love of his life, Norah “Nonie,” in New York City and literally swept her off her feet at a dance. Frank and Nonie started their married life in the Inwood section of Manhattan. In 1968, the family moved to Hillsdale, NJ, where Frank transformed a “fixer-upper” into a beautiful family home where he would raise his three children, Frank, Noreen, and Ann. Frank also volunteered at St. John the Baptist Church and with his son Frankie’s Boy Scout troop. Frank worked as a New York City Union Carpenter and eventually retired from the New York City Housing Authority in 1993. Frank honed his golf game in retirement, often beating players half his age. Nonie didn’t mind all the time he spent playing golf because his tournament wins were Waterford Crystal in lieu of trophies. Frank is predeceased by his beloved wife of 60 years, Nonie.

He is survived by his devoted son Francis (Frankie), daughters Noreen (Rolf Hoppe), Ann (Andrew Lawson) and cherished grandchildren Abigail Lawson, John Hoppe, Katie Hoppe and Alex Lawson. He is predeceased by his parents Stephen and Anne (Tessie) Clohessy, brothers Robert (Robbie) and Stephen (Buddy), and sister Anna (Teresa) Hannon. He is also survived by loving nieces, nephews and cousins in the United States, England and Ireland.

Visitation will be held at Becker Funeral Home, 219 Kinderkamack Road, Westwood, NJ 07675, US, on August 19, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

A Funeral Mass will be held at St John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, 69 Valley St, Hillsdale, NJ 07642, US, on August 20, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.

Committal will take place at Ascension Cemetery, 650 Saddle River Rd, Airmont, NY 10952, US, on August 20, 2026, from 11:30 am to 12:00 pm.
