Paul A. Galasso

February 24, 1948January 9, 2021

Paul A Galasso, age 72, of River Vale, NJ, passed away on January 9, 2021 following a year long battle with cancer. He is survived by his loving wife, Diane, his son, Peter and his wife Danielle of River Vale, his daughter Lisa and her husband, Trevor, of Connecticut and his five cherished grandchildren. Extended family include Paul's sister, Camille and her husband, Dale, his sister, Laurette and her husband, Jerry and many nieces and nephews.

Raised in the Bronx, Paul's family moved to River Vale in 1956 to live in a house that his father built. Paul Graduated from PVHS in 1965 and immediately upon graduating, began to work for New Jersey Bell as a lineman. Within a year, he enlisted in the army and was proud to serve his country in Vietnam as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division. He was honorably discharged in 1973 and then went back to work at New Jersey Bell, eventually earning the position of an area construction manager. After 37 years, Paul retired and took up golf, which became a favorite pastime, combining his love of competition, time with friends and the outdoors.

Paul was most passionate about his family and sports. He played and pitched on several softball teams, but most enjoyed his time playing for Marcy's. He also pitched on an over 40 baseball team which left him with fond memories. Paul coached both Lisa and Peter's baseball, basketball and soccer teams. He loved watching both of them play any and every sport; he never missed a single game.

When Paul wasn't watching sports or playing golf with his friends, he could be found cruising on his Harley or hanging out with his grandchildren, Emma, Sophie, Ava, Owen and Taylor~ they brought him such joy.

Paul/ Dad/ Pop will be missed forever and always held close in our hearts.

There will be no services at this time. The family will be hosting a celebration of life on a future date when restrictions are eased. If you’d like, donations may be made in Paul’s name to The Wounded Warrior Project.

My deepest condolences to Paul’s family. We always had a great time playing basketball at Paul’s house after school and playing baseball for the hillsdale hornets after graduating.
Paul was my best friend throughout high school and will be missed.

Paul will be sorely missed. I have fond memories of both baseball and softball played together from the 60s to the 80s, and he officiated games I played in into the 2010s. Honest. Had integrity. Was true to himself. Superstar...

Paul was a good friend from 7th grade through 11th grade. We roamed a lot of back roads on our bicycles, and were frequent visitors in Pearl River. On one jaunt we rode as far as Pompton Lakes. I always felt more than welcome when visiting at Paul's house. A real nice family. His dad was the first to buy a big console color TV, and I remember watching baseball games in living color at his place. When my family relocated to South Florida, Paul and I fell out of touch. Over the years I sometimes heard mention of Paul, and although I thought of calling him, it never came about. I'm sorry now to see his obituary. I can only say I'm saddened to hear of his passing and I regret that I never made that call. My condolences to his family and friends who, I'm sure, miss him greatly. So long Paul, hope we meet again some day.

RIP my dear friend. Paul and I were partners in business in many different job titles for over 30 years. He was always the guy I could count on, to as he would say " Make it happen Today". We shared the ups and downs of the crazy phone company but always came out on top. We shared many fond moments both on the job and off the job and Paul was a true friend, who always had my back. One of my fondest memories is how I would stop by his house on my Harley and we wood just stand there for hours starring at our glistening machines. A true friend and I will miss him dearly. As a veteran myself I look forward to the day I will see you on the other side of that ridge and we will take that hill together.
