

PROIETTO, Paul E., 95, of River Edge, NJ, formerly of Brooklyn, NY, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, May 9th, 2026. Paul is survived by his beloved children Paul and his wife Barbara, Lisa Dilauri and her husband Damian, Peter and his wife Maria and Mark and his partner Lee Candelino; his cherished grandchildren Monica Wilson and her husband Michael, Cara Markgjonaj and her husband Nicholas, James and his wife Julianna, Emilee and her partner Connor Walther, Anthony, Brooke and her fiance Nicholas, and Peter Jr. as well as his great-grandchildren Dakota and Taelynn Walther, Dominic Markgjonaj, and Vincent Proietto. He is predeceased by his beloved wife Marie and daughter Lauren.
Paul had many talents which included woodworking, ceramics, building & flying model airplanes, carving decoys just to name a few. Paul was a Union City teacher for over 30 years. He shared his love of science and nature with his students as well as his family. He was also an avid outdoorsman throughout all of the seasons. He liked skiing, hunting, fishing, crabbing and clamming just to name a few.
Paul shared his knowledge and love of nature with the generations that followed. He was happiest when surrounded by his family in times of celebration while creating more cherished memories or by simply just reminiscing about happy times with loved ones of years gone by. His family is incredibly grateful to have had him in their lives for so long.
The family will receive guests at Becker Funeral Home, 219 Kinderkamack Rd, Westwood, NJ on Thursday, May 14th from 4-8PM. A Mass celebrating Paul's life and faith will be held at St. Peter The Apostle Roman Catholic Church in River Edge, NJ on Friday, May 15th at 11AM with interment at George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus, NJ to follow.
