Peggy Funesti

Margaret (Peggy) age 81 passed peacefully on Friday, August 12, 2016. Peggy was a resident of Montvale, NJ. She is predeceased by her husband of 51 years Jack and her son Fr. Peter, former Pastor of Church of the Nativity, Midland Park, NJ. She is survived by her children Julie Esch and her husband Ed, Paul and his wife Ann, Tommy and his wife Judy. grandchildren; Collin Funesti, Kyle Funesti, Connor Esch, Trevor Esch, Cameron Funesti, Casey Funesti, Thomas J. Funesti, Nyesha Funesti; and step grandchildren Rick Martin, Tiffany Martin, Justin Martin and Nicole Squires, and great-grandchildren; Sophia Martin and Hunter John Martin. She is predeceased by her sister Mary Hickey. Peggy is also survived by many loving and caring friends.

Peggy grew up in Rockaway, NY and received her diploma in nursing from St. Clare's Hospital in NYC. She worked primarily in Obstetrics and worked for Dr. Landers of Teaneck, NJ for over 50 years.

Peggy was very active in her faith and in the Our Lady of Mercy R.C. Church community. She served as a Cantor and Eucharistic Minister. She was very active in Women’s Cornerstone and Cursillo. She was a proud member of MOPS, Mother of Priests.

The family will receive their relatives and friends at Little Sisters of the Poor, 140 Shepherd Lane, Totowa, NJ on Sunday, August 14, 2-5 PM and at Becker Funeral Home, 219 Kinderkamack Road, Westwood, NJ on Monday, August 15 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. A Funeral Liturgy will be held on Tuesday, August 16 at 11AM at Our Lady of Mercy R.C. Church, Park Ridge, NJ. Interment will follow at Maryrest Cemetery, Mahwah, NJ.
