Peter Gloeggler, 77, of Montvale NJ, beloved husband, father, and grandfather passed away August 24 of complications from Parkinson’s Disease. Born in Ulm Germany, Peter immigrated to NY at the age of 14 with his mother Johanna to join his step-father Erich. He graduated from City College in 1965 beginning his career as an electrical engineer for such companies as Philips, Sharp, CBS, and SONY. Sending video cameras in a shuttle to outer space and under the ocean to the titanic, every subject from the Super Bowl to the Pope’s visit in Denver, major motion pictures and independent films give credit to his hard work and generosity.
Peter was a true gentleman, an adventurous eater and an avid traveler. His kindness was felt by all those around him. He will be remembered for his good nature, infallible logic, love of all things Star Trek, and his kind pure heart.
Through his struggles with Parkinson’s Peter never complained, never spoke an unkind word, and always faced life with optimism.
He leaves behind his wife of 46 years, Regina, his daughters Elizabeth Gloeggler, Maria Bleier, and Terry Kate Gloeggler, his grandchildren Devin and Aliya Bleier, Ettie and Evie Eggers, and sons in law Jan Eggers and Seth Bleier. Memorial visitation at Becker Funeral Home, 219 Kinderkamack Road, Westwood, on Sunday 4-8 pm. Memorial Mass will be held on Monday at the Church of the Presentation, Upper Saddle River at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, donations in Peter Gloeggler’s name can be made to Literacy NJ (literacynj.org/donate) or 100 Menlo Park Drive, Edison, NJ 08837 in honor of his dedication to immigrants starting a new life in the US.
