Phil Shearman

Philip Shearman passed away on Saturday, 1/21/2023 at home surrounded by his loving family. Phil was born in Rockville Centre NY the 6th of 7 children and always loved being part of a large family. Phil grew up in Haworth New Jersey and has life-long friends from his childhood.

Phil graduated from Northern Valley Regional High School Demarest and went on to get his Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering. He later joined several family members in NYC and enjoyed a 20 year career at the New York Mercantile Exchange.

Phil is survived by Gail, his wife of 35 years. He is also survived by his mother Betty, brothers Jack & Anne Shearman, Mark & Linda Shearman, and Rob & Eileen Shearman and sisters Kathy & Steve Arpaia and Beth Hofgesang. Phil was also Blessed with many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.

Phil was predeceased by his father Robert J Shearman, his brother Greg Shearman, his niece Michaela Shearman and his nephew Avinash Maharaj. Phil loved his family & friends beyond measure. He had a knack for making others feel at ease and enjoyed sharing his sense of humor with those around him. He was an avid golfer and he and Gail shared their love for the sport. Phil played on the Men’s club at the Spook Rock golf course and he has two Hole in One’s to his credit. Some of his fondest memories have been the golf trips to Ireland with his college buddies.

The family will receive their relatives and friends on Tuesday, January 24, 2023 from 4-8 pm at the Becker Funeral Home, 219 Kinderkamack Road, Westwood, NJ followed by a Catholic mass at Our Lady of Mercy Church in Park Ridge, NJ on Wednesday, January 25, 2023 at 10:30am.
