Phyllis lived a life defined by faith, friendship, and family. She enjoyed learning, traveling, and relaxing with an entertaining book in her hand.
Her greatest passion revolved around her family and friends, and showering everyone with love, compassion and empathy. Phyllis thrived when her home was filled with the commotion, conversation and laughter of her loved ones.
Phyllis’ orbit of loved ones was numerous and far reaching. Central to that orbit is her husband of 67 years, John H. Broderick.
Together, they raised four children – Kathleen, Christopher, Joseph and Nancy-Anne – and found joy in watching the accomplishments of their children and their spouses as they in turn raised seven grandchildren (Sarah, Kendall, John-Luke, Vaughn, Aidan, Ian and Sofia). Phyllis was blessed to welcome three great grandchildren to the family (Johnny, Sienna, and Ginger) as well.
When not doting on family and friends, Phyllis spent her time creating. She was avid at needlepoint, crocheting and ceramics. Phyllis played tennis and shared her time and talents as a member of the altar society and choir at Our Lady of Mercy Church.
Her family and friends will miss Phyllis greatly, but will be forever grateful for the love, encouragement, example, and memories she gifted each with.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, from 9 to 10:45 a.m. at Our Lady of Mercy Roman Catholic Church, at 2 Fremont Avenue, Park Ridge, New Jersey. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated immediately afterward at 11 a.m. The interment will follow at Ascension Cemetery, Airmont, New York.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks to consider a donation in Phyllis’ memory to St. Jude Children’s Hospital (https://www.stjude.org/donate/donate-to-st-jude.html)
