Ralph Schroeder, of the Township of Washington, was called home by the Lord on June 25, 2025, to be re-united into the loving arms of both his beautiful and beloved late wife Lois, (2014) of 64 years and daughter Gerry, (2019). Ralph is survived by his loving children, Robert and Tina Schroeder, Judy and Andy Monocky, Rick and Jeanine Schroeder, and Son-In-Law, James Voorhis. Adored and cherished pop-pop to Dana (Christian), Brittany (Ben), Nicholas, Nicole (Chris), Robert, Dani, Matthew and Jimmy. Great Grandfather to Cooper and two grandbabies on the way. Devoted brother to Muriel Lucas-Johnson and a host of many nieces and nephews. Pre-deceased in death by parents, Ernest and May, and brother Kenneth.
Ralph was born in Hackensack, NJ and raised in Little Ferry. It was during his teenage years that Ralph would meet the “love of his life”, Lois. The minute they set eyes on each other, they knew that it was destiny, and that they would spend the rest of their lives together. Their love story officially began when they became husband and wife on September 9, 1950.
During their early years of married life, Ralph was deployed overseas to represent our nation by serving proudly in the US Army during the time of the Korean War. Upon his return, Ralph and Lois settled in the Township of Washington and started to raise a family. Ralph resided in the Township until his time of passing.
Ralph was a successful and proud business owner of Bi-State Brake Company, for 67 years, before retiring in April 2018. Ralph was known in the industry for his loyalty, honesty, and friendship. He proudly served generations of families, was trusted by many and admired by all. His positive attitude and strong work ethics were never overlooked. A small conversation would ultimately lead to friendly chatter and pleasant conversations. No one ever walked through the doors of Bi-State without receiving a warm hello or a sincere good-bye! It is without doubt that Ralph made a remarkable impact on so many lives in such a positive way. Ralph cherished his family and enjoyed spending all his time with those he loved. He was a season ticket holder for the NY Giants, enjoying many years of tailgating! He enjoyed vacationing with Lois and their family at their home in Naples, Florida, as well as their years spent vacationing down the Jersey Shore. Multiple trips and great family times were also spent vacationing in St. Maartin. There was never a family gathering that he did not attend,` nor embrace. Holidays, birthdays, graduations, barbecues, weddings, and countless other occasions were always celebrated with family and friends, as time spent with the ones he loved is what mattered most!
Throughout their lifetime in the Township, Ralph and Lois made an abundance of friends. Their friendships were built on trust and loyalty, and all their get-togethers were nothing but fun times, filled with abundant laughter. The stories they all shared and memories that they all created, priceless!
Ralph will always be remembered for his positive energy, sense of humor, quick wit, compassion towards others and many acts of kindness. He was honorable, trustworthy, and considerate. He would listen silently, bring comfort to those in need and offer support and strength for those seeking it. Never an ill word was spoken and never one to judge or stigmatize, as he treated everyone with loyalty and respect. He touched the lives of everyone he met and will be remembered for his warm and loving heart.
Ralph was a founding member and devoted parishioner of Our Lady of Good Counsel. His devotion to his faith and his love for God lead him to the 8am Sunday mass weekly. His desire to love and please the Lord was his passion, as was his will to serve others. Ralph leaves behind a legacy that will remain in our hearts forever, and we can see why the “NOTEBOOK” was his favorite movie. A tender love story, exemplifying patience, trust, commitment, devotion, but most of all “LOVE”.
We are proud to have called him dad, pop-pop, friend and warrior. May your love of faith, family and friendships live on in one another as it has so lived within our family.
