Richard John Augsbach, Jr., known affectionately as Ricky, of Westwood, NJ passed away on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at the age of 65. He was born and raised in Airmont, NY to Mary and Richard Augsbach on April 16, 1959.
Ricky graduated from Suffern High School in 1977 and went on to study forestry at the University of West Virginia. After leaving college, he spent thirty-five years as a supervisor at Lederle Laboratories and Wyeth Pharmaceuticals in Pearl River, NY.
Ricky’s passing leaves a deep void in the hearts of his loving family, friends, and all those who had the privilege of knowing him. His love for his sisters and family was boundless. He will be remembered for his humor, kindness, selflessness, courage, grace, and the profound impact he had on those around him.
Ricky was passionate about the outdoors, enjoying hiking, hunting, and fishing in the Adirondacks, the Catskill Mountains, and Harriman State Park. He cherished his time spent in Delhi with his cousin Ken and loved fishing on his boat. As a lifelong fan of the Mets and Giants, he could often be found cheering on his teams. Ricky treasured his trip to the National Parks across the United States. He looked forward to annual family vacations in Ocean Beach and Maine. Ricky’s yearly fishing trips with the boys to the Florida Keys were an absolute highlight for him. At home, he found peace in planting, tending to the gardens, listening to music, and relaxing by the fire pit with a beer in hand.
Ricky is survived by his loving sisters, Deborah Kolakowski (David), Bethanne Augsbach Lamma (Mike), and Laura Augsbach-Thompson (Ed); nieces and a nephew whom he adored: Logan, Whitney, Greg, Mel (and her husband Adam), Hannah, and Madeline.
