DONOHUE, The Honorable Richard J., 75, of Hillsdale, NJ, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on January 31, 2016. He was born on March 13, 1940 and raised in Verona. He served in the United States Army after high school and attended Fairleigh Dickinson University where he met his wife, Patricia. After receiving a B.A. in History, Richard attended Seton Hall University School of Law. He practiced law for thirty-five years and then was appointed Superior Court Judge in Bergen County in 2002. He retired in 2010 and enjoyed golfing, the Jersey shore, and time with his grandsons. Richard was generous, funny, kind, and devoted to his family and friends. He loved his career and the people with whom he worked. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Patricia (Mardoc). In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter Joyce Donohue Brennan and her husband Thomas Brennan of Sloatsburg, NY; daughter Linda Chavez and her husband Edmund Chavez of Hasbrouck Heights, NJ; grandsons Brian and Colin; sister-in-law Janice Donohue of Las Vegas, NV; brother-in-law Vincent Mardoc of Virginia Beach, VA; and many other loved ones. Richard was predeceased by his brother Gerard Donohue and sister-in-law Evie Mardoc. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him. A visitation will be held on Friday, February 5th from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at Becker Funeral Home, 219 Kinderkamack Rd., Westwood, NJ. A Memorial Mass will take place on Saturday, February 6th at 10 AM at St. John the Baptist R.C. Church, 1 Valley St., Hillsdale, NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital , P.O. Box 1000 DEPT 142, Memphis, TN 38105, would be appreciated.
