On Saturday, June 20, 2020, Rita Ann Bergholtz, loving and adored mother of 3 daughters, passed into the arms of the Lord peacefully at age 68.
Rita was born May 30, 1952 in Brooklyn, NY to James & Bertha Cobb. Rita had a wonderful zest for life. Because of her love and compassion for people and children, she received a Child Care Technician’s Certificate which inspired her to further her education and became a LPN from Albany Medical Center in 1976. In 1979, she married John T. Bergholtz Jr. Their union created 3 amazing daughters; Shannon, Stacey & Ashley. As time passed and through life’s journey, she met Robert McDevitt, her significant other. They cared for each other deeply for over 25 years. For most of her life, she was a devoted mother and homemaker. She supported her girls by becoming their dedicated Girl Scout leader and softball coach. In her later years, she joined CVS Pharmacy in Westwood as a Pharmacy Technician. She was a customer favorite, well known for her warmth and her willingness to always help others. Rita was also the best Oma to her four grandchildren. Her grandsons John, Luke & Matthew loved to cuddle up with her to watch the newest children’s movies and snack on freshly made popcorn way past their bedtimes. Her french toast will always be a family favorite. She also spoiled them with the best presents and always had a sweet treat to sneak to them. Most importantly, she spoiled them with love. Rita also loved to sing, play on the floor and buy the cutest outfits for her granddaughter Avery. She loved her children and grandchildren eternally.
Rita is survived by her 3 daughters Shannon (John) Marciano, Stacey Bergholtz (Robert Moore), Ashley (Matthew) Grath; her significant other Robert McDevitt; her 4 grandchildren, John, Luke & Matthew Marciano and Avery Moore; her 3 siblings Deborah (Thomas) Bicknell, James (Ellen) Cobb and Patrick (Cristy) Cobb. Rita was a dearly loved Aunt of her many nieces and nephews as well as a great-aunt of grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
